Girbaud Over-dye Indigo Jacket

Original Brand:  Marithé et François GIRBAUD

Material: 100% Cotton

D.O.B. : circa 1980

Country of origin: U.S.A

Made for:

Most likely made around the time the Girbaud duo were creating costumes for Flashdance.

Unique features:

Founded in France in 1972, GIRBAUD is best known for the industrialization of the iconic stone washing process, which gives denim that sought after weathered look.

I selected this jacket because the midnight blue over-dye has been softened just enough to give it beautiful highs and lows across the seams.

Look closely and you will spot the unique GIRBAUD label, with bright gold lettering, near the waistband.

There are a couple of subtle nicks and notice the leather patch has all but worn away, except for the embossed lettering barely showing.

Level of wear: GENTLY WORN

Most items can be machine washed and dried cool.

But the best way to wash denim by far, to retain its indigo shade, is to sponge clean with a cool damp cloth.
